The BITU’s Charge
We insist that Trade Unions play a clear and active role in negotiations regarding the impacts of digital transformation. In a growing number of economic sectors, some employers are using algorithmic management systems to ratchet up productivity at the expense of workers health, privacy, and wages. These systems include extreme monitoring and constant surveillance with real time performance feedback. Employers use them to enforce unsustainable productivity goals, and the result of the pressure puts workers’ physical and mental health at risk.
Our goal is to secure a just transition for all workers, leading them into a fairer and more sustainable green future world of work. That is why development, upskilling and consultation in the digital transformation will be a key feature in our collective labour agreements.
